The "FUNNY STORY OF THE WEEK:" A sweet and super intelligent kiddo came in as a new patient. He was accompanied by Mom, Grandma and his older sister. We talked for a long while and, eventually it came time for my nurses to draw the labs I'd ordered. He obviously was an unwilling participant! (Who can blame him??!?!)
After much explaining, coaxing and reassurance, this brave little guy toughed it out!!
In the middle of the procedure, he looked at Mrs. Trina (one of my awesome nurses) and said, "CAN I HAVE SOME OF MY DNA TO TAKE HOME?" (Whattttt??!!? We were all thinking, "how does this sweet boy even know what DNA is??" So, we just went with it). And yes, Ms. Trina gave him some "DNA" to take home :-)
So, after the "poke" (lab draw) was over, this brave young gent announced, "I want to be a doctor when I grow up! Except, I don't wanna touch other kids' blood, so I'll just do the PAPERWORK!" As he proudly checked out his cool Toy Story band aide......
Lol!! I LOVE these kids! I LOVE my job! I am BLESSED beyond measure! What an AMAZING young man!
