Awhile back, I had the pleasure of seeing a middle-aged couple. They are AMAZING and have weathered MANY a storm over their 30+ years together. They are both God fearing, humble and giving beings raising their grandchildren, serving their church and moving toward a healthy lifestyle. The wife is simple to explain (not that she's simple); she's a woman I aspire to be; humble, giving, trusting, thoughtful and holds her family's well-being within the very center of her heart. Her husband…oh MY Goodness! Amazing man. He fought in a war that he well explains, “no one can prepare you for that.” He remorsefully talks about the decisions he/others had to make that no one should ever have to make. He is far from a martyr, rather a soft-hearted warrior, who feels guilty if he gets a good night's rest. I've had the honor of knowing them for awhile. We always share a good laugh and much needed prayer. During our last visit, we had an especially amusing experience. The story begins with the stoic, yet humble
husband: You know what I've found that I like?
Me: What's that, Mr. D?
Mr. D: I just love to be greased up and sent home.
Mrs. D and me: Blank stare
Mr. D: I mean, I love getting massages to relax my muscles!
Mrs. D and me: LOL!!!
Mrs. D: You sound like you're a rack of ribs!
Me: Blank stare…
